Person-Centred Counselling

The person-centred approach is based on the theory and philosophy of Carl Rogers.

Having trained in the person-centred approach I believe that you as a client are the expert on your experiences, therefore it is not my place to analyse or advise you. I offer a warm, non-judgemental and honest space in which you can safely explore difficult issues.

Person-centred counselling puts importance on the relationship between client and counsellor and is rooted in the belief that each individual has the resources within them to lead a fulfilling life. Building a relationship together that is based on trust and without judgement enables therapy to work through the barriers and difficulties that we face in all areas of our life.

“When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusions that seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard. I have deeply appreciated the times that I have experienced this sensitive, empathic, concentrated listening.”
